Summary of This RolePrincipal Network Engineer will focus on design and architecture of the Organization's network infrastructure. They will apply their expertise to provide solutions that meet the business requirements. This individual will be responsible for working with the engineering teams to create architectural standards and designs. They will also engage with application owners to create highly available solutions and network support. They will also be responsible for identifying risks, driving technology and process improvements, as well as reviewing and testing new solutions to improve the network availability and operation overall.
What Part Will You Play?Acts as a Technical SME to design network solutions in a team environment
Work on greenfield projects to create solutions which drive business requirements and goals
Support operational teams to Identify and resolve unusual problems and issues.
Manages complex project tasks independently with internal and external clients
Provides mentorship to entry/lower level team members
At an expert/Technical SME level, independently designs, configures, tests, documents, and implements complex network designs and components
Develops ad-hoc, unusually complex reports on network performance, trouble-shooting results, and maintenance of network elements
Acts as a Technical SME to independently utilize tools within the network to analyze client networks
Create road maps and budgets for infrastructure projects
Evaluate new technologies and solutions
Minimum Qualifications
8 years of network engineering, administration, design experience
3 years in the financial technology industry
3 years of solution architecture experience
CCIE, CCNP certification or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
Appropriate advanced industry network certifications are preferred.
Design experience in additional network technologies including Firewalls and load balancing
In-depth understanding of network communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
Ability to perform discovery and documentation of existing network environment
Maximizes network performance; troubleshooting network problems; scheduling implementations; collaborating with network and application teams.
Secures network system by identifying, creating, and enforcing policies and standards
Experience architecting and designing complete data center solutions including networking, firewalls, and load balancing.
Ability to properly administer a mixture of platforms/technologies and security appliances including Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco FWSM, F5, router/switches including Cisco IOS and Nexus, or similar technologies
In depth understanding of network documentation and physical and logical diagrams
Experience in evaluating new technologies and creating/performing proof of concepts
Provide budget estimations and planning for future network solutions and projects
Configure and install network routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
Provide guidance and oversight to other engineers to follow best practices
Report on project status by gathering and organizing information
Tier-4 Off-hour support may be required for maintenance windows and/or troubleshooting
